Seal sexual battery case rejected by Los Angeles DA

Seal will not face criminal charges in a sexual battery complaint filed last month by his ex-neighbor, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said Monday.

The case _ in which actress Tracey Birdsall claimed the "Kiss from a Rose" singer groped her and tried to kiss her _ was rejected due to a lack of witnesses and evidence, as well as an expired statute of limitations.

Birdsall alleged last month that Seal sexually assaulted her in February 2016 after she dropped by his house to retrieve a salad spinner he'd borrowed.

The actress alleged he lunged at her, groped her breasts and tried to kiss her _ claims Seal has continued to deny.

Birdsall, 54, said she was compelled to come forward almost two years after the incident because of Seal's reaction to a speech Oprah Winfrey made in support of sexual assault victims.

The singer at first called Winfrey a hypocrite for having had a working relationship with accused sexual predator Harvey Weinstein, but later apologized to the TV personality in a video that also voiced his own support for victims.
