Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin could be facing sports hernia operation

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin has been recovering from two surgeries this offseason – one on his knee and one on his shoulder. A new report now indicates he could now be facing a third operation in the near future.

Baldwin appeared on Sports Radio 950 KJR Wednesday and told former teammate Cliff Avril, who hosts the afternoon show, that “more surgeries [are] on the way, most likely.”

Following the interview, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo tweeted some information about the potential upcoming procedure, indicating Baldwin was scheduled to meet with Dr. William Meyers in early April regarding a possible sports hernia.

Both coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider had addressed Baldwin’s knee and shoulder surgeries at the NFL scouting combine but neither mentioned any further pending medical issues.

“His spirits are good about it,” coach Pete Carroll had said. “He’s got some work to do. He’s got a shoulder and a knee thing that he’s working on. He got some stuff fixed up.”

More information will likely become available this spring after Baldwin meets with the specialist.
