Seahawks work out OL Brandon Hitner on Monday

The Seattle Seahawks reportedly hosted former Villanova guard Brandon Hitner for a workout at the team’s practice facility, according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

Hitner was primarily a guard while at Villanova, but he proved during combine testing that he has the mental and physical traits to transition to center if needed.

Scouting reports labeled him a potential sixth or seventh round pick, but he ended up going undrafted and signed on with the Rams, who released him.

The Seahawks were without versatile center/guard Ethan Pocic on Sunday against the Saints, instead allowing Joey Hunt to fill that role as a flexible reserve.

If the Seahawks believe Pocic’s injury is going to keep him out long-term, they could view Hitner as a depth piece to add to the practice squad.

Currently, the practice squad consists of four offensive linemen – center/guard Kyle Fuller, guard Jordan Roos, guard Kahlil McKenzie and tackle Elijah Nkansah.
