Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf in position for success as rookie

Now that the NFL draft is in the books and teams have signed undrafted free agents, it’s time to take a look at which rookies are in the best position to succeed this season.

NFL.com writer Dan Parr ranked the top 25 rookies around the league poised to “kick some butt” in 2019.

Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf lands at No. 14 on the list:

This one is pretty straightforward. Seattle needs someone to step up to replace Doug Baldwin. Metcalf, considered a likely first-rounder for much of the spring, somehow fell all the way to the end of Round 2 (was it stiffness? the neck injury?), when the Seahawks scooped him up. Let’s get him and Russell Wilson together and watch the fireworks downfield.

Now that Seattle has officially released Baldwin, who is likely to soon retire, finding the next man up will be no easy task.

Veteran Tyler Lockett is coming off a banner season and seems a logical option to replace Baldwin in the slot. However, Metcalf has the size and speed to do just about anything on the field.

Coach Pete Carroll and company will undoubtedly welcome the big-bodied receiver to the lineup, giving Wilson a deep threat.
