Seahawks hosting veteran free agent Allen Bailey

The Seattle Seahawks are reportedly hosting veteran free agent Allen Bailey on a visit today, according to NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Bailey, 30, has been with the Chiefs for the entirety of his eight-year NFL career. He has emerged as a quality edge rusher in the last five seasons, racking up 17.5 sacks on 28 quarterback hits, along with 106 solo tackles and four forced fumbles.

2018 was one of the best seasons of his career, with Bailey posting six sacks and 10 quarterback hits, both career highs.

The Seahawks are in need of more pass rushing, even after tagging star defensive end Frank Clark and bringing back Quinton Jefferson on an original round tender.

Bailey would step in and give Seattle a veteran rotational defensive end who could spell Jefferson and Clark when needed and has shown an improved ability to disrupt the offensive line and get to the quarterback.

The Seahawks are, of course, in penny-pinching mode after agreeing to a mega-deal with quarterback Russell Wilson, but a cheap one or two-year deal might be right up their alley to shore up a position of need heading into 2019.
