Seahawks Twitter account trolls 49ers, 49ers fire back without words

The rivalry between the 49ers and Seahawks is alive and well. After several dormant years where Seattle dominated the matchup, the teams have split their last four meetings, including a pair of wild contests in 2019 that helped decide the NFC West.

During the NFL’s virtual offseason, the Seahawks took to Twitter to stoke the revived rivalry. They posted a photo indicating that replies were a vote for the 49ers, and retweets meant a vote for the Seahawks. Then they shut off the ability to reply, leaving the Seahawks the landslide ‘victors’ in their poll.

When one team account goes at another, there are generally some words and barbs exchanged about championships or recent failures and other things fans use to dig at other fans of rival clubs.

The 49ers took a different tact, and simply posted a video of Dre Greenlaw’s Week 17 fourth-down stop of Seahawks tight end Jacob Hollister at the goal line to seal the NFC West title for San Francisco.

Greenlaw’s tackle came with nine seconds left and the 49ers leading 26-21. Their win secured their first NFC West title since 2012, and earned them the No.1 seed in the conference. It was their first win over the Seahawks in Seattle since 2011.

The Seahawks Twitter account did not respond.
