Seahawks trade TE Nick Vannett to Steelers for 2020 draft pick

The Seahawks players had an off day on Tuesday, but the front office was busy tweaking the roster. Seattle traded tight end Nick Vannett to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Steelers tight end Vance McDonald was spotted Tuesday with his shoulder in a sling; now Pittsburgh is trading for soon-to-be former Seahawks’ TE Nick Vannett,” Schefter tweeted Tuesday evening.

Pittsburg sent Seattle a 2020 fifth-round draft pick in return, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Vannett, in the final year of his rookie contract, has been the No. 2 tight end this season behind Will Dissly. Despite earlier injuries to the position group, Seattle is fairly deep at the spot.

Veteran Ed Dickson will likely return to the active roster once he is eligible to be removed from injured reserve after Week 8, and Jacob Hollister could be called up from the practice squad.
