Seahawks reach deal to trade Frank Clark to Chiefs

The Seattle Seahawks have reached an agreement with the Chiefs to trade defensive end Frank Clark to Kansas City ahead of this year’s NFL draft.

“Seahawks agreed to trade their franchise player, DE Frank Clark, to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 2019 first-round pick, a 2020 second-round pick and an exchange of third-round picks this year, per league sources,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who cited league sources.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport had tweeted that the two teams were “deep in trade talks” just minutes before the news broke.

The Seahawks had been in communication with several teams reported to be interested in the defensive end, and were looking for at least a first-round pick in exchange. The Seahawks had placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on Clark last month.

With the deal in place, Seattle has added to its league-low four selections in this year’s draft, acquiring an additional first-round pick. The Seahawks are already in line to select at No. 21 overall and could make a draft-day trade to move back into the second round.
