Seahawks to sign defensive lineman Jachai Polite to practice squad

The Seattle Seahawks are busy forming their 10-man practice squad Sunday morning and one reported roster move really jumps to the top of the list.

Seattle will be signing defensive lineman Jachai Polite to the squad, per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Polite was selected by the Jets in the third round of this year’s NFL draft with the No. 68 pick overall. Originally projected as a mid-first rounder, his stock plummeted after a poor combine performance and interview session.

In February, ESPN draft analyst, Mel Kiper, mocked Polite as Seattle’s first-round pick in 2019. He will now be signing with the Seahawks for a mere $8000 per week.

The rookie out of Florida was released by the Jets on Saturday and managed to slip through waivers unclaimed.

As of this post, the Seahawks are reported to be signing wide receivers Jazz Ferguson and Terry Wright, tight end Jacob Hollister, tackle Elijah Nkansah and cornerback Simeon Thomas to their practice squad as well.
