Seahawks to re-sign right guard D.J. Fluker to 2-year deal

The Seattle Seahawks are finalizing a two-year deal to bring back right guard D.J. Fluker, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. The news comes just hours after the team agreed to terms with veteran guard Mike Iupati, who is expected to take over J.R. Sweezy’s spot at left guard.

The terms of Fluker’s contract have yet to be announced at the time of this post.

Fluker was a big hit for Seattle last year, coming over from the Giants on a one-year deal to reunite with offensive line coach Mike Solari. He proved to be a punishing run-blocker, helping lead a revamped Seahawks ground attack that featured a 1,100-yard rusher in Chris Carson.

While his injury history is a tad concerning (he’s only played in 16 games in the last two years) Fluker does provide Seattle with a formidable presence at the right guard spot, and with Iupati in the picture now, Seattle has a nice backup option in Jordan Simmons, who looked solid when replacing Fluker last year and will reprise that role again in 2019.
