Seahawks to host defensive end Rashan Gary on top 30 visit

The Seattle Seahawks, and the rest of the NFL, have been busy scheduling visits with their most desired prospects in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft.

The latest player to announce that he has a visit scheduled with Seattle is Michigan defensive end Rashan Gary. Gary said on NFL Network that Seattle is one of seven teams he has either already visited or plans to visit ahead of draft day.

Gary is a monstrous edge rusher who would immediately step in and compliment Frank Clark on Seattle’s defensive line. He drew a comparison to Ezekiel Ansah from NFL draft guru Lance Zierlein, and is considered one of the best of an excellent group of pass rushers in this year’s draft class.

The reason this visit is somewhat odd is that Gary, at least according to most draft pundits, isn’t expected to last down to Seattle’s pick at No. 21 overall.

Of course, Seattle is probably just doing their due diligence in case the draft goes unexpectedly and they have an opportunity to snag the Michigan product.

With edge rushing this team’s biggest need of the offseason, any opportunity to learn more about a potential impact player is one worth taking, and GM John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll are making sure they take advantage of each and every one of them.
