Seahawks tight end Ed Dickson set to return to practice next week

The Seattle Seahawks have suffered a number of blows to the tight end position this season, most notably losing Will Dissly for the year to the injured reserve.

After adding fan-favorite Luke Willson back to the roster and promoting Jacob Hollister from the practice squad, Seattle is also looking ahead to the return of Ed Dickson.

“Ed is working really well, he’s going to come back next week,” coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday. “I think next week is his first chance back. He’s practicing next week. He’s practicing next week. Based on what I’m seeing, he’s going to be practicing to play. That’s pretty optimistic right now.”

Dickson started the year on the injured reserve after recovering from knee surgery and is inching closer to returning to practice eligibility. He must sit out the first eight games of the year but can rejoin the squad for team activities ahead of being activated back to the 53-man roster.

“I’ve watched his workouts a number of times in the last couple weeks,” Carroll continued. “He’s working hard, and he has a chance. He has a chance to come back in that week and help us some. We’ll see what happens. He’s pretty hopeful. He looks good.”

In 2018, Dickson logged 12 receptions for 143 yards and three touchdowns for Seattle.
