Seahawks’ signing of defensive end Ezekiel Ansah is official

The Seattle Seahawks today wrapped up one of their biggest free-agent transactions of the year, signing defensive end Ezekiel Ansah to a one-year contract. Ansah and Seattle had agreed to terms on the deal earlier in the week.

Defensive end Nate Orchard was released to make room for Ansah on the roster.

“I’m super excited,” Ansah said via the team’s website. “This is a great team. The caliber of players who have been through here, they have a great coach out here, the environment, the organization, it’s just great. I’m just happy to be a part of it.”

Because Ansah was signed after May 8, Seattle won’t lose a compensatory draft pick in 2020.

Ansah will likely start opposite rookie L.J. Collier, the Seahawks’ first-round selection this April.

“I am really motivated right now,” Ansah said. “Not that I wasn’t motivated before, but I’m just super excited to be part of the Seahawks.”
