Seahawks sign defensive tackle Al Woods, waive 2 undrafted free agents

The Seahawks continue to sharpen their 90-man roster, making a number of moves over the last few days following the NFL’s deadline for signings to count against the compensatory draft pick formula.

On Monday afternoon, Seattle formally announced the addition of defensive tackle, Al Woods. Woods’ agency, Sports Trust Advisors, tweeted Seattle and the defensive tackle had agreed to terms on Friday.

Woods will now join defensive end Ezekiel Ansah on the Seahawks’ revamped defensive line after visiting Seattle in April.

Woods, 32, was originally selected by the Saints in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft but released before the start of the season. He has spent time with five other teams over his nine-year career, including the Seahawks in 2011.

In addition to the Woods signing, Seattle also waived two undrafted rookie free agents on Monday – quarterback Taryn Christion and tight end Mik’Quan Deane.

The Seahawks now have one spot open on the 90-man roster, which could be used to sign quarterback Geno Smith, who is scheduled to visit Seattle on Wednesday.
