Seahawks select safety Marquise Blair No. 47 overall in 2nd round

The Seattle Seahawks kicked off the second round of the 2019 NFL draft the same way they started round one – by trading back. After acquiring No. 47 from the Panthers, Seattle used the pick to select Utah free safety Marquise Blair.

The Seahawks acquired the pick from the Giants on Thursday evening, when they shipped the No. 30 overall pick in exchange for No. 37 as well as a fourth and a fifth rounder. Seattle quickly flipped that one again, moving back 10 spots to acquire a third rounder – No. 77 overall.

In Blair, Seattle gets a hyper-aggressive, physical player who possesses the range to replace Earl Thomas as a single-high free safety.

He’s a tad undersized, but his style of play makes up for it and will give Seattle a likely immediate starter in the secondary.

Seattle’s next pick is in the third round at No. 77 overall.
