Seahawks take defensive end L.J. Collier at No. 29 in 2019 NFL draft

The Seattle Seahawks selected defensive end L.J. Collier out of TCU with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft.

Seattle acquired the No. 29 pick from Kansas City in the trade that sent Frank Clark to the Chiefs. The Seahawks have quickly found Clark’s replacement.

The defensive end was in town to visit with the Seahawks this April after meeting with the team at the NFL scouting combine, where they asked him a question he found odd.

“The Seahawks asked me how long could I keep my eyes open,” Collier said of the strangest question he was asked during the interviews. “That was kind of strange. They asked me to do the ABC’s and count with it too. So, that was kind of weird.”

During his post-draft conference call Thursday night, Collier told reporters he kept his eyes open for at least four or five minutes.

The Seahawks were originally set to select at No. 21 in this year’s draft but traded the pick to the Packers for Green Bay’s first-round selection (No. 30) and two fourth-round picks.

Incidentally, Seattle traded No. 30 overall to the Giants immediately following the Collier pick.
