The NFL draft is still months away but that isn’t stopping the pundits from issuing their mocks. These earlier versions are likely to see to a number of tweaks before April’s main even as free agency could change major needs for many teams around the league.
With the Super Bowl in the books, the draft order has been officially set so projections for the first round are being written fast and furiously. Barring any trades of course, here’s a look at who the Seahawks could select at No. 27 overall.
Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA TODAY Sports believes Seattle will attempt to strengthen its pass-rushing efforts, picking defensive end/outside linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson out of LSU.
“Even if Jadeveon Clowney re-signs – and that’s not a given – Seattle still looks to be lacking off the edge after mustering just 28 sacks in 2019,” Middlehurst-Schwartz writes. “Chaisson has the bend and burst that NFL teams will make a bet on.”
Clowney definitely made an impact last season, but his price tag might not be within the Seahawks’ budget. The increase in the salary cap will be a huge factor in Seattle’s decisions, however, and Clowney might just be around to see the Seahawks make another Super Bowl push next season.
