Seahawks schedule visit with Texas A&M TE Jace Sternberger

The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly agreed to visit with Texas A&M tight end Jace Sternberger. The visit would be another one of Seattle’s top 30 visits as they get their draft board in order ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft, which is set to begin on April 25.

Sternberger is the first tight end to be connected to Seattle through the draft. The Seahawks are expected to go into 2019 with second-year Will Dissly and veterans Ed Dickson and Nick Vannett as their tight end group.

Tackle George Fant could be in the mix as well after playing a handful of snaps there last season and even hauling in one pass.

Sternberger would give Seattle an above-average athlete who excels as a pass-catcher, although his size and strength are concerns for his long-term ability as a run-blocker.

Considering Dissly and Dickson’s proficiency in the run game, Sternberger could be viewed as a replacement for Vannett as a pass-catcher who can line up out wide if needed.

Seattle has plenty of holes to address through the draft, and tight end isn’t expected to be one of them. Still, meeting with intriguing athletes like Sternberger can never hurt, and coach Pete Carroll and company are certainly doing their due diligence this year.
