Seahawks schedule visit with safety Juan Thornhill

The Seattle Seahawks are no doubt looking to bolster their depth in the secondary after losing both Earl Thomas and Justin Coleman to free agency.

While coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider seem confident in the abilities of Delano Hill and their young corners, Shaquill Griffin and Tre Flowers, the team could use reinforcements now that the entire original Legion of Boom is gone.

Seattle has met with multiple defensive backs ahead of this year’s NFL draft, including Taylor Rapp and Byron Murphy from UW and a handful of others.

One of the most recent is Virginia safety Juan Thornhill, who reported that he has visits scheduled with the Chargers, Cowboys, Rams, Bills and the Seahawks.

Thornhill, along with Alabama safety Deionte Thompson, looks like the purest replacement for Earl Thomas in this year’s draft. He is a fleet-footed single-high safety with a ballhawk mentality and the prototypical size and strength to hold up against NFL receivers.

Thornhill is projected as a second-round pick at the moment and could be a nice target for Seattle if (when?) they trade down in the draft to acquire more picks.
