Seahawks safety Tedric Thompson’s pick NFL’s interception of the year?

After a slow start Thursday night, the Seattle Seahawks put together an impressive performance to beat the Los Angeles Rams on a national stage.

Much of the credit went to Seattle’s offensive players — Russell Wilson and Chris Carson, to name two — but it was a defensive play in the fourth quarter that pushed the Seahawks over the edge.

Safety Tedric Thompson picked off Rams quarterback Jared Goff in what amounted to an impressive display of ball-handling skills. Initially ruled an incomplete pass, the Seahawks challenged and won, earning a very valuable takeaway.

“I knew I caught it,” Thompson said after the win, via KJR’s Curtis Crabtree. “That’s why I got up and tried to run. I didn’t feel it hit the ground or nothing so I knew I caught it. It’s obviously the biggest play of my career in the NFL.”

Here’s a closer look at Thompson’s defensive highlight and the play that likely saved the game for the Seahawks.
