Russell Wilson on MVP pace through Week 4

The Seattle Seahawks’ victory over the Arizona Cardinals was dominated by running back Chris Carson, but that doesn’t mean Russell Wilson didn’t continue to build on his excellent season.

Wilson completed 22 of 28 passes for 240 yards and a touchdown, giving him a 114.3 passer rating on the game. He is the first quarterback in Seahawks history to start a season with four straight games with a passer rating over 100, and the only quarterback in the NFL this season to do so.

Wilson’s numbers rank extremely favorably among all quarterbacks in the league. He is first in completion rate (72.9 percent) and second in both touchdown-to-interception ratio (8/0) and passer rating (118.7).

If not for a botched handoff that resulted in a fumble charged to Wilson, he’d be one of two quarterbacks in the league without a turnover, alongside Tennessee’s Marcus Mariota.

Wilson will have to compete with Patrick Mahomes, and perhaps Tom Brady and Dak Prescott, to win his first career MVP award this season, but through the first four weeks of the season things are looking promising for the 30-year-old.

A date with the 3-1 Rams on Thursday night will be a big test for Wilson and company, and another strong performance could help solidify his place atop the leaderboards.
