Seahawks’ Russell Wilson No. 39 of PFF’s top 50 players

Pro Football Focus ranked the top 50 players entering the 2019 season, and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson cracked the list at No. 39.

Wilson earned an overall grade of 89.2 from PFF last season, ranking among the top 10 quarterbacks for the sixth year of his seven-year career.

He has long earned quality grades from PFF for his ability to pass out of a clean pocket, which the analytics site labels as some of their most stable metrics from year to year.

Still, Seahawks fans may be miffed to see Wilson rank just barely inside the top-40 players in the NFL, especially since he is behind players like Packers defensive tackle Kenny Clark and Falcons linebacker Deion Jones.

Wilson, who signed a four-year, $140 million extension through 2023, had one of the most efficient seasons of his career in 2018. He threw for a career-high 35 touchdowns and just seven interceptions, despite having over 100 fewer passing attempts than in 2017 thanks to Brian Schottenheimer’s run-heavy offensive attack.
