Seahawks running back Mike Davis to sign with Chicago Bears

Running back Mike Davis will finally get his shot at a bigger payday. Davis will be signing with the Chicago Bears, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The former Seahawks running back was the highest-paid back on Seattle’s roster last season but relegated to mostly backup duties on the depth chart. Starting the season neck and neck with second-year back Chris Carson in 2018, rookie draft pick Rashaad Penny eventually replaced Davis as Seattle’s No. 2 bruiser.

Davis finished last season with 112 carries for 514 yards and four touchdowns.

Originally selected by the 49ers in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL draft, Davis spent three seasons in San Francisco before he was released in 2017 and signed to the Seahawks.

Davis is apparently happy with his pending new contract, which Rapoport is reporting to be worth  $6 million (max value of $7 million) over two years.

Davis’ deal, like other potential free agents, won’t be finalized until the start of the new league year on Weds., March 13.
