Seahawks run game restored with Chris Carson’s performance Week 4

The Seattle Seahawks notched a win in Arizona over the Cardinals Week 4, thanks in huge part to running back Chris Carson. Carson finished the day fumble-free, posting 104 yards on 22 carries and hauling in four catches on four targets for 41 yards.

“I think probably the guy I’m most excited about is Chris,” coach Pete Carroll said after the victory. “Chris had a great game, sending the message about his style of play and our style of play. Riding on our shoulders was really obvious today.”

Carson has struggled over his last three outings, with a fumble lost in each of the games. Carroll reiterated his faith in the running back all week and his trust paid dividends for Seattle.

“I think he responded just like you would think he would,” Carroll explained. “He’s a stud of a player, he’s a great competitor, he’s got style and toughness and all that and I’d really like to think it’s emblematic of the way we want to play.

“He just came through and did what he’s capable of doing.”

Second-year back Rashaad Penny was once again inactive on Sunday with a hamstring injury. Carroll said he should be set to return this week to face the Rams, although after Carson’s performance in Arizona, Penny might not factor heavily into the game plan.
