Seahawks rookie DK Metcalf misses scrimmage because of oblique strain

The Seattle Seahawks held their annual training camp scrimmage at Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell this year, and one of the most anticipated players was not on the field.

Rookie wide receiver DK Metcalf participated in early warmups but was held out of the mock game.

“Yeah, DK, the last play of practice yesterday, he got a little oblique strain and he’s been banged up on a couple things. We thought it was the right thing to just give him this break today and tomorrow, and get him back next week,” Pete Carroll told reporters Saturday.

The players have an off day Sunday, and the hope is Metcalf can benefit from the extra day of rest. Carroll was asked whether the rookie would return Monday.

“I’m not sure about that, but we are shooting for that,” he said.

Monday’s practice is scheduled for 11:15 a.m., a bit later than most others. In just over 24 hours we should know whether or not Metcalf will be a participant.
