Seahawks release former Jets OLB Jachai Polite from practice squad

For the second time in less than a month, Jachai Polite is looking for a new home.

The Seahawks released Polite from their practice squad on Monday. Seattle gave Polite a second chance after the Jets released him in August, but things simply did not work out for the 2019 third-round pick with his new team.

Polite’s release essentially gives validation to New York’s decision to move on from him so soon based on a lack of production in training camp and the preseason. Polite was a non-factor throughout the preseason with the Jets and clearly, he did not show enough in his time with the Seahawks’ practice squad to warrant at least a month’s stay with the team.

Polite also accumulated over $100,000 in fines in his brief tenure with the Jets, which also played a role in his eventual release. It doesn’t look like character was the reasons Seattle decided to part ways with the Florida product, but Polite’s actions with the team that drafted him put him in a serious hole moving forward.

Now, after getting drafted only five months ago, Polite has been waived, picked up and shown the door again. Not the best start at the professional ranks for a player who many considered a first-round talent at one point.
