Seahawks re-sign suspended receiver Josh Gordon

(Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports)

Former Pro Bowl receiver Josh Gordon is getting a second chance in Seattle.

The Seahawks claimed Gordon, 29, off waivers last November after the New England Patriots released him.

The former All-Pro (2013) for the Browns is expected to re-sign with the team, his agent, David Canter, confirmed Thursday with a cool tweet.

Gordon remains indefinitely suspended by the NFL.

Per USA TODAY’s Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz:

Gordon played in five games for the team before he was suspended for violating the NFL’s policies on substance abuse and performance-enhancing substances. The ban was his sixth by the NFL since 2013 and his fifth for an infraction related to substance abuse.

He has applied for reinstatement and is awaiting a decision.

In 2017, Gordon told GQ that he used some either drugs or alcohol before “probably every game” of his career to that point.

Gordon led the NFL in receiving yards in 2013 with 1,646 in 14 games. He played in just 10 games from 2014-17, missing two seasons while suspended.

Should he be reinstated, he could serve as the No. 3 wide receiver in Seattle behind Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf.
