Seahawks RB Travis Homer named NFC special teams player of the week

The Seattle Seahawks’ special teams unit has been balling out all season, but this past week’s win over the San Francisco 49ers was a truly next-level performance.

Leading the charge was running back Travis Homer, who scored on a 73-yard run during a fake punt on the first possession of the game. He also recovered a fumble by the Niners to open the second half. For his efforts, Homer has been named the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week.

Homer has only played 140 snaps on offense this season, stuck near the bottom of Seattle’s depth chart at running back despite numerous injuries. However, he’s become a staple on special teams – playing 204 snaps – or 68% of the team’s total this season.
