Seahawks QB Russell Wilson will prepare for gameday as if he’s playing

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is just beginning the recovery process following finger surgery and he is already back with the team . . . well, sort of. Wilson watched from the sidelines to cheer on his teammates.

“He had 30 minutes on the practice field, and he was great,” coach Pete Carroll said Monday afternoon. “He knows his job is to help Geno (Smith) and get him ready.”

Carroll told reporters the timeline for Wilson’s return is still uncertain, and until then, the quarterback is going to participate however possible, even if that only includes metal reps.

“He’s already starting to listen to the game plan,” Carroll explained. “He’s figuring out where it fits and how it’s going to go. He’s going to prepare just like he was playing.

“His plan is to stay as sharp and as fresh as he possibly can.”
