The Seattle Seahawks and safety Jamal Adams were able to reach an agreement on a contract extension this week but offensive lineman Duane Brown hasn’t been so lucky. Like Adams, Brown has been opting out of practice while he awaits a new deal.
Quarterback Russell Wilson is noticing the absence.
“You always want your star left tackle out there,” Wilson told reporters during his press conference on Wednesday. “We’re just trusting the process, hoping that it works out because we definitely need him and that’d be huge for us. He’s been one of the best in the game, obviously, but I’m sure it will get figured and worked out. That’s what I’m hoping for and wanting.”
Fortunately, Brown has been participating in team meetings and walk-throughs and the veteran is no stranger to the training camp process.
“Duane is a guy that is probably the most physically fit guy on our team,” Wilson said. . . “The thing about Duane is that he’s really cerebral. He understands the game and he’s our leader up front. He’s one of those guys that can really demonstrate how the game is supposed to be played.
“I think it’s going to work out, that’s what I’m hoping for and what I’m looking forward to.”
The Seahawks are set to square off against the Broncos Saturday night at Lumen Field in their second game of the preseason.
