Russell Wilson’s unbroken streak of starting every game in his Seahawks career is suddenly in jeopardy. In the third quarter of Thursday night’s increasingly painful loss to the Rams, Wilson injured a finger on his throwing hand. While he came back onto the field for another drive after, Wilson found he couldn’t grip the ball well enough, so he finished the game on the sidelines as Geno Smith took over.
After the game, Pete Carroll called Wilson’s injury a “really bad sprain.” Soon, we’ll learn more. According to a report by Ian Rapoport at NFL Network, Wilson will undergo an MRI today.

Smith performed admirably with Wilson out, but he hasn’t had to start more than one game in a season since 2014 with the Jets.
On the bright side, Wilson has nine days to recover before the next game on the schedule. The Seahawks visit the Steelers next Sunday night.
