Seahawks QB Russell Wilson predicts Sounders over Toronto in MLS Cup

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson won’t take the field until Monday night but there’s one game he’ll be focused on Sunday afternoon – the 2019 MLS Cup pitting the Seattle Sounders against Toronto FC at CenturyLink Field.

Wilson opened his press conference Friday afternoon sporting a “rave green” Sounders scarf and making a bold prediction.

“Hopefully, we win,” Wilson told reporters. “For the Sounders, that would be huge. Obviously, we wish we could be here to watch it. We’re going to be traveling on the road. I know it’ll be a great MLS Championship game. I’m picking the Sounders, 3-1. I’ll go 3-1.”

Wilson has every reason in the world to root for the Sounders on Sunday. In August, the club announced he and his wife, Ciara, were among 11 families joining the ownership group.

“Seattle means so much to me and Ciara,” Wilson said at the time. “We’re fired up about being part of the Sounders for a long, long time, having ownership in the Sounders and continuing to build that winning culture.”

While Wilson might not be able to catch the MLS Cup action live, you can tune in at 12:00 p.m. PT on ABC.
