Seahawks QB Russell Wilson named NFC Offensive Player of Week 9

For the second time this season, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week. He first earned the honor Week 2 after the team’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Against the Buccaneers Week 9, Wilson completed 29 of 43 passes attempted for 378 yards and a franchise-record five touchdowns to finish the day with a passer rating of 133.7. He also managed one carry for 21 yards in the Seahawks 40-34 overtime victory.

Wilson has now thrown for 2505 yards and 22 touchdowns on the year, with his lone interception coming Week 7 courtesy of the Ravens. In addition, he’s totaled 203 yards and three rushing scores on the ground, firmly cementing his name in the race for the season’s Most Valuable Player.

NFC Offensive Player of the Week might not be Wilson’s only award following his impressive performance against the Buccaneers, Wilson has also been nominated for this week’s FedEx Air Player.
