Seahawks promote safety Adrian Colbert to active roster

The Seattle Seahawks have promoted free safety Adrian Colbert to the active roster after just one week on the practice squad.

Seattle acquired Colbert on Sept. 18, after he reached an injury settlement with the San Francisco 49ers that allowed him to become a free agent. A recurring hamstring issue that plagued him throughout the 2019 preseason landed him on the injured reserve after he went unclaimed post-roster cuts and returned to the 49ers practice squad.

“We really think (Colbert’s) got great potential,” coach Pete Carroll last week. “He’s really fast, he’s really tough… He’s just one of those guys to me that demonstrates the kind of energy that we really like when we play.”

Colbert will join Lano Hill, Tedric Thompson, Bradley McDougald and Marquise Blair in competition for a starting safety spot.  He appeared in 21 games with 12 starts over two seasons in San Francisco, with his 2018 season cut short with an ankle injury in Week 7. He has logged 53 total tackles, six defended passes, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in his career.

To make room for Colbert on the active roster, Seattle waived defensive tackle Bryan Mone.
