Seahawks player of the game: Wide receiver Tyler Lockett

An uncharacteristically high number of mistakes by Seattle Seahawks players – and coaches – lead to an ugly 33-27 home loss to the New Orleans Saints.

The Seahawks fell to 2-1 after the defeat, which was worse than the final score indicated, following a last-second touchdown from Russell Wilson to Will Dissly.

Despite an all-around lackluster performance, the Seahawks got yet another strong game from veteran receiver Tyler Lockett, who remains the unquestioned leader of Seattle’s receiving corps.

Lockett reset his career-high with 11 receptions, topping the 10 he had last week against the Steelers. He also finished with a career-high 154 receiving yards and one touchdown – his second of the season.

“He’s a fantastic player,” coach Pete Carroll commented after the game. “He’s just such a good player. You see him so many times making exactly the right choice and the right decision with the opportunity he has. He’s just so adept.”

Lockett now has 22 receptions for 297 yards and two touchdowns through three games this season and is well on pace to break his previous career-high in both receptions (57) and yards (965) which were both set last year.

Lockett and the Seahawks will look to get back in the win column next Sunday when they head to Arizona to face the Cardinals.
