Seahawks player of the game: Running back C.J. Prosise

The Seattle Seahawks beat the Los Angeles Chargers, 23-15, to move to 2-1 in the preseason.

The star of the game without a doubt was running back C.J. Prosise, who appeared in his first preseason matchup of the year and lead the Seahawks with 32 yards rushing and a touchdown, while also hauling in a reception for 15 yards.

“It was really a good night for C.J.,” coach Pete Carroll commented after the game. “It’s been such a struggle for him to get out there. He had a really good week of practice, he looked like that in practice. I don’t think anyone was surprised, we’re just happy for him.”

Prosise was a third-round pick by the Seahawks back in 2016, but a myriad of injuries have limited him to just 16 NFL games. He had a few excellent appearances early in his career, but the injuries and a lack of recent production make him a potential cut candidate.

However, his performance Saturday night is the kind of performance that may keep him around into the regular season, as he proved yet again that – when healthy – he’s arguably as talented as every running back on this roster.

The Seahawks will have one more opportunity to see their full 90-man roster in action, on Thursday against the Raiders, before they have to trim down to 53 players.

Prosise’s performance on Saturday will go a long way toward making sure he’s one of those 53.
