Seahawks planning on Tyler Lockett playing Sunday against Eagles

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett left the Monday night matchup against the San Francisco 49ers with a leg contusion and was unable to fly home with the team after the win.

Lockett spent two nights in a Bay Area hospital for evaluation before returning to Seattle.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll provided an update on Lockett’s status during his press conference Monday afternoon.

“They took great care of him and all that,” Carroll explained. “Everything worked out fine. Now, he’s just on the road back. We’re optimistic about it, but he’s still going to have to do it. The extra days absolutely are helping us here, so we’ll take full advantage of that.”

The Seahawks, who just resumed practice after their bye week, were able to enjoy some much needed time to relax and recover. The additional days off could mean Lockett won’t have to miss a game due to his injury.

“He’s doing better, he’s doing better,” Carroll said. “We’ll know later in the week his status. We’re hoping and planning on him being able to play, but yet, he has to show it to us. So, we’ll see.”

Seattle has an off day Tuesday before returning to the practice field on Wednesday to prep to face the Eagles on the road.
