Seahawks offensive line depth in question after new injury on Sunday

The Seattle Seahawks took another hit to their depth on the offensive line Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings when Demetrious Knox was carted off the field in the fourth quarter.

Knox, signed by Seattle as an undrafted free agent out of Ohio State, suffered a “nasty” quad injury near his knee according to coach Pete Carroll, who reported the news during his post-game press conference.

“It looks like he’s got a quad injury that’s involved with the knee area,” Carroll said. “It’s a nasty injury for him. We’ve got to do some tests, but it’s a quadriceps-related injury in regards to his knee.”

The Seahawks are already thin on the offensive line with a number of players sitting out over the last few weeks.

Guard Mike Iupati, initially sidelined with a foot injury, is now battling a sore calf. Jordan Simmons just underwent a knee procedure and is currently rehabbing. Tackle/tight end George Fant sprained his ankle in the first preseason outing. Rookie Phil Haynes remains on the Physically Unable to Perform List.

Depending on the severity of Knox’ injury, Seattle might have to make a roster move or two to assure depth throughout the remainder of the preseason.
