Seahawks offense further ahead with coaching staff in 2nd season

The Seattle Seahawks made some changes to their coaching staff in 2018, replacing offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell with Brian Schottenheimer and offensive line coach Tom Cable with Mike Solari.

Although it took a season to adjust, the offense is beginning to really gel now that Schottenheimer and Solari are entering their second year on the staff.

“I think year two is great,” Schottenheimer said after Tuesday’s OTA. “The staff is back together. It’s been so nice to sit in meetings with Russ [Wilson] and watch cutups from last year. Last year we were just trying to put plays on paper and things like that this time of year. Now we’re so much farther ahead.

“It’s cool to see how quickly the guys are picking things up.”

But while the offensive staff has returned from last season, there will be some obvious changes on the field both Schottenheimer and Wilson will have to adjust to, namely, Doug Baldwin’s absence from the roster.

Seattle has also added some new faces to the squad, selecting three wide receivers in the draft and signing guard Mike Iupati in the offseason to bolster the offensive line.

But hopefully, under the tutelage of Schottenheimer and Solari, the Seahawks offense will continue to find a way to evolve.
