Seahawks no longer only NFC West team with pair of brothers

In 2018 one of the more heartwarming stories in the NFL was the Seattle Seahawks drafting linebacker Shaquem Griffin and reuniting him with his twin brother, cornerback Shaquill Griffin. The twins had played together at the University of Central Florida and now do so for the Seahawks.

Seattle had become one of two teams in the league to employ a set of twins on their roster, with the Patriots being the other. However, now it appears the Seahawks are no longer the only NFC West team with family ties.

While they may not be twins, the Rams are creating a family reunion of their own for the Kupp brothers. On Wednesday, the Rams signed linebacker Ketner Kupp, the younger brother of star wide receiver, Cooper Kupp.

Both Kupp brothers were standouts at Eastern Washington University. Cooper broke several FCS receiving records during his time in Cheney and Ketner lead the Eagles in tackles during their championship run last season.

The Rams seem to enjoy acquiring players from the Seahawks’ own backyard, relatively speaking. Ketner Kupp is now the fifth standout Eastern player the Rams have signed or drafted, joining his brother Cooper, center Aaron Neary, wide receiver Nsimba Webster, and linebacker Samson Ebukam.

Cooper Kupp may have missed the Rams’ Super Bowl run due to a torn ACL in Week 10, but caused plenty of damage against the Seahawks in the games he did play. In both narrow losses to the Rams last season, Seattle surrendered 11 receptions for 129 yards a touchdown.

With Kupp returning from injury to continue being an important cog in the Rams’ offense, and his brother Ketner adding legitimate depth to an already solid linebacker corps, defeating the Rams just became a little trickier.
