Seahawks must beat Rams to take advantage in stacked NFC West

After a resounding 27-10 road victory against the Arizona Cardinals, the 3-1 Seattle Seahawks head back to the Emerald City on a short week to play the 3-1 Los Angeles Rams for Thursday Night Football. The upcoming showdown is undoubtedly one of the most important games of the season for both teams and neither side will let up. However, the Seahawks must take advantage of the opportunity to notch a win over their division rivals.

The NFC is packed with talent this year, with the NFC West and NFC North, in particular, fielding hungry and tenacious teams early on. The Seahawks, Rams, and 49ers all have three wins through four weeks, with the latter being undefeated at 3-0 into their Week 4 bye. The Seahawks will have their work cut out for them in the weeks to come, particularly against inter-conference opponents. However, divisional games are the most important, and the Rams may once again be Seattle’s top competition in the division.

The Rams defense could be fairly crippled in the wake of their 55-40 loss to the Buccaneers. Los Angeles could be without cornerback Marcus Peters (concussion), linebacker Bryce Hager (neck/shoulder) and safety Taylor Rapp (ankle) on Thursday. Seattle, on the other hand, escaped Arizona with few to no injuries and could have the upper hand on paper. It should be noted that the Seahawks have not beaten the Rams since Week 5 of 2017, so this could be a pristine opportunity to emerge on top.

As unfortunate as injuries can be in football, they also provide opportunities for certain teams to gain ground in their respective divisions and conferences. However, the Seahawks will face a tough test on Thursday regardless and must be prepared for a battle against perhaps their most threatening rival.
