University of Washington safety Taylor Rapp , who has been linked to Seattle a lot this offseason, recently met with the Seahawks according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.
Rapp is touted as a late-first to early-second round draft pick, which makes him an ideal target for a Seahawks team that is likely looking to trade down from their first round pick at No. 21 overall in order to acquire more picks later on.
Rapp is also a local product who projects as a physical run-protecting box safety. Seattle could use more reinforcements in their secondary, and Rapp would learn a ton from veteran Bradley McDougald if he came to Seattle.
The knock on Rapp is his size and a poor showing at his Pro Day, which revealed an unofficial 4.74 in the 40-yard dash – a mark that could impact his draft stock if scouts are worried his physicalness won’t play up without elite top speed.
Rapp isn’t the only defensive back Seattle is looking at with their first round pick, and he’s not even the only one from his school, with Byron Murphy squarely on Seattle’s radar as well.
If Seattle does choose to add a safety with their first pick, Rapp wouldn’t be a bad choice – presuming they trade down to snag him later.
