Seahawks making most of extended preseason break

The Seattle Seahawks have a unique opportunity this summer – an extended break between their first and second preseason games.

Coach Pete Carroll and the team are making the most of the 10 days, almost like a mini bye.

“We are trying to clean a lot of things up here,” Carroll said after Sunday’s practice. “Now that we are out of game week, we’re not preparing for anybody now. We want to make sure we are back to the scheme, go back to the techniques that we are counting on. We’re not experimenting much right now.”

The Seahawks don’t face the Vikings until next Sunday, Aug. 18 and won’t be prepping with the game plan until the team reconvenes after Wednesday’s break. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are bonus practices as far as Seattle is concerned.

“We are really working on honing some things and making sure it’s really sharp,” Carroll continued. “Stuff that won’t apply in the next couple game plans, but stuff for the season. It’s just really important that we come out of here with a lot of confidence in what we are doing and what we believe in. I’m looking forward to it.”

Seattle faces off against Minnesota on the national stage, with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m. PT.
