Seahawks make roster moves, sign defensive back DeShawn Shead

The Seattle Seahawks announced a number of roster moves Saturday, their first off day since training camp began on July 25.

Seattle welcomes back defensive back DeShawn Shead, who originally signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Portland State in 2012. Shead spent last season with the Lions and appeared in 12 games before finishing the year on the injured reserve.

In addition to Shead, the Seahawks also signed linebacker Jawuan Johnson to the 90-man roster. Johnson, an undrafted rookie out of Texas Christian University, participated in Seattle’s rookie minicamp as a tryout player this spring.

To make room for Shead and Johnson, the Seahawks waived Caleb Scott with a non-football injury designation (foot) and placed linebacker Emmanuel Ellerbee on injured reserve.

The Seahawks resume training camp on Sunday, the first day the squad is allowed to practice in pads. The session begins at 10:00 a.m. PT at the VMAC.
