Seahawks linebacker Cody Barton final draft pick to sign contract

The Seattle Seahawks now have all 11 members of their 2019 NFL draft class under contract. The only rookie left to sign was linebacker Cody Barton, who inked his deal on Friday, according to his agent, David Canter of DEC Management.

Canter’s tweet linked to the agency’s Instagram account which featured a photo of Barton with pen in hand at Seattle’s headquarters.

The Seahawks selected Barton with the No. 88 overall pick in the third round out of Utah.

“Cody played inside the box and played the middle linebacker, the weakside linebacker and played out in the slot as well,” coach Pete Carroll said after Barton was drafted. “He showed comfort in all of that. He’s really smart and handled a lot of the communications. That versatility is really important to us. And we know that he’s an incredibly gifted special teams player as well. He’ll have a chance to learn under terrifically experienced guys. He’ll be a great asset to us.”

Barton and the Seahawks wrapped up OTAs on Thursday and report for mandatory minicamp on June 11.
