When opponents line up against Bobby Wagner, the hits just keep on coming. Now fans who purchase “Madden NFL 20” can dish out some of those hits themselves in a big way.
As part of the ongoing marketing campaign to build hype for the latest edition of the popular video game, EA Sports is slowly releasing the overall ratings for some of the most talked-about names in the league. They recently announced every rookie ranking, and now they are moving on to the most dominant players.
On Monday, the “Madden” team started to release the names of the “99 Club,” which is a collection of the highest-rated players in the game. Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald was the first player announced. On Tuesday they named the next player — Seahawks middle linebacker Bobby Wagner.
Wagner is one of four players to get the highest possible rating, which is down from seven spots in “Madden 19.” Wagner was a 97 overall in last year’s game.
Wagner has certainly earned this lofty ranking, as he is coming off a season in which he logged 138 tackles with only one miss all year. Wagner has long been considered one of the best linebackers in football, and to many, he is the undisputed best middle linebacker in the NFL today. Since 2012 he leads the entire league in tackles with 981, even edging out former Defensive Player of the Year Luke Kuechly of the Carolina Panthers.
Seahawks fans have felt for years that Wagner is far overdue for a Defensive Player of the Year award. While Wagner has yet to secure one, his dominance is certainly not going unnoticed by the “Madden” team.
