Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner undergoes minor procedure

After Monday’s practice, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll revealed that linebacker Bobby Wagner had undergone a minor medical procedure. Wagner was present at the team’s practice but did not participate.

“Bobby had a little procedure done,” Carroll told reporters. “He’s going to get a little break here to get right.”

Carroll was evasive as to the nature and location of the procedure.

“On his lower body,” Carroll said. “A little bit of everything. Here, there, it’s something that he’s done regularly, and we are doing it again now at this time of year.”

It was later revealed the procedure involved platelet-rich plasma therapy, often sought out by athletes to speed up healing.

Asked why Wagner waited until the second week of camp to have the procedure, Carroll said: “Just to make sure we have plenty of time between games and all that stuff. We have a big two weeks coming up, 10 days coming up after this game. He’ll have two weeks before the next game.”

The Seahawks will start the preseason against the Broncos on Thursday night without their star linebacker.
