Seahawks land at No. 8 in USA TODAY’s final NFL power rankings

The Seattle Seahawks logged an impressive season, lasting into the divisional round of the playoffs before being bested by the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field to end their year.

Now that the Chiefs have been crowned league champions for their win over the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, it’s time to take a look at the final NFL power rankings to close out 2019.

Nate Davis of USA TODAY Sports, who often irks Seattle fans with his rankings, deems the Seahawks worthy of only the No. 8 spot.

“Their average margin of victory in 11 wins was 5.6 points, and they collectively outscored their opposition by just seven all season – suggesting HC Pete Carroll got absolute most out of a roster facing significant rebuild in trenches,” writes Davis, who lists the Saints, Vikings, Packers and 49ers ahead of the Seahawks in the NFC.

Power rankings tend to differ across media sites, but it’s tough not to argue Davis’ hit to Seattle is a little below the belt this year.
