Seahawks land at No. 10 in mid-preseason NFL power rankings

The Seattle Seahawks are 1-1 this preseason, having beaten the Denver Broncos at home and lost to the Vikings on the road. The exhibition games are certainly about more than logging W’s in the win column, it’s a good chance to scout all the depth on the 90-man roster.

While every team around the league is still trying to shake off the rust and adjust to new faces on the squad, a few clubs manage to stand out. NFL.com’s End Around writer, Dan Hanzus, has put together his latest power rankings and the Patriots top the list.

The Seahawks enter week 3 of the preseason at No. 10.

“The summer has been filled with praise for DK Metcalf, the second-round rookie wide receiver expected to step into the void left by the retired Doug Baldwin,” writes Hanzus. “That plan hit a speed bump with Sunday’s announcement that Metcalf needs surgery to repair a knee injury suffered last week. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll doesn’t believe Metcalf will be out long, but it’s more bad news for a Seattle rookie class that is having trouble staying on the field.”

Metcalf isn’t the only rookie battling an injury, as first-round pick L.J. Collier and safety Marquise have both been recently sidelined.

Seattle will have to look to the depth on the 90-man roster to get through the preseason until the starters have recovered and returned to the lineup.
