Seahawks jump to No. 7 in Touchdown Wire’s Week 6 power rankings

The Seattle Seahawks continued their push in the NFC West leaderboards last week, beating the Los Angeles Rams Thursday night in prime time.

After the win over the reigning division champs to sit at 4-1 on the year, the Seahawks have climbed from No. 13 to No. 7 in Touchdown Wire’s Week 6 NFL power rankings.

“Now that Patrick Mahomes has thrown just one touchdown pass in his past two games, has Russell Wilson leapfrogged him in the MVP race?” writes TD Wire’s Doug Farrar. “After bullying the Rams last Thursday night in a 30-29 win, Wilson became the first quarterback in the Super Bowl era with 1,400 passing yards and 12 touchdowns with no interceptions. That he has done so with an iffy offensive line and an unknown cadre of receivers outside of Tyler Lockett puts Wilson in rarefied air.”

“Though Wilson has been an exceptional quarterback for a long time (he led the NFL in touchdown passes with 34 in 2017 and bumped that up to a career-high 35 last season), he’s hit an entirely different level of performance,” Farrar explains. “Wilson faces vulnerable defenses in the Browns, Ravens and Falcons over the next three games, so his video game numbers could easily continue.”

Wilson and the Seahawks travel to Cleveland this week to face the Browns, who are coming off a drubbing courtesy of the 49ers Monday night.
